Jared and Jessie are a brother and sister writing team who have collaborated on a number of musical theater works. Jared is the music guy, Jessie takes care of the words. They conveniently met in the same small New Jersey town where they were surprised to find they had even their parents in common. They share a harmonious collaboration process as composer and writer - with only a touch of sibling rivalry still in the mix - and continue to work towards creating new and exciting musical theater pieces.

Jessie Field is a director and playwright, and college graduate from Brandeis University. Brandeis directing credits include Proof, Into the Woods, Rabbit Hole, and the workshop production of Rachel. Jessie also served as AD for Brandeis Theatre Company’s productions of Closer and She Stoops to Conquer and was Artistic Director of the student-led Free Play Theater Cooperative. Jessie is a founding member of The Crossroad Players, a professional company of Brandeis alumni focused on giving opportunities to young artists, and served as the company’s President and Artistic Director. Jessie directed CP’s premiere production of ‘Night Mother, as well as their second show, My Romantic History, at the A.R.T.’s Oberon theater. She also directed Clark University’s Sweeney Todd, and Bentley University’s Enron. She spent last year in California, completing the Directing Apprenticeship at Capital Stage. There Jessie served as AD for A Doll’s House and The Totalitarians. She also had the honor of directing her fellow apprentices in their showcase, Subculture.
Jessie’s experience as a playwright includes writing the book and lyrics for Harold! The Musical, a one-act original musical and grant recipient in the 2009 Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Arts, and the book and lyrics for Rachel, which was a recipient of the Harold and Mimi Steinberg prize for Best Original Play and the winner of Outstanding Musical at the 2015 Fresh Fruit Festival awards. Other completed works include To The West, a family-friendly feminist tale of adventuring Vikings, and La Maupin, another musical collaboration with her brother, Jared, about swordswoman and opera singer Julie d’Aubigny. Jessie directed the premiere of La Maupin at the 2017 Fresh Fruit Festival.

Jared Field is a composer, clarinetist, and music educator. He received his BA with Highest Honors in Music Composition and Philosophy from Brandeis University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, he served as a corps member at City Year New Hampshire, working as a tutor and mentor in a third grade classroom. He also conducted and led the school chorus in rehearsals, created and implemented a new after school music club, and wrote a new school song. After City Year Jared worked at a program for adults with developmental disabilities, where he created and implemented a wide variety of classes, including a music class and a theatre class. Over the summers, Jared worked at Beam Camp in Strafford, New Hampshire, where he led several music programs and guided a group of campers in the creation of their own opera and of their own aleatoric compositions.
Jared graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a Masters in Music and Music Education. While there, he taught private composition and clarinet lessons, and worked as a student teacher at the Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn, New York. In 2014, Jared was selected as a participant in the September installation of "The Choreography Lab," for which he and choreographer Rachel Lauria created the dance piece "Timeless". Jared has also been selected as a participant in the 2016 ACDA-Lehigh University Choral Composers Forum and the 2017 Choral Chameleon Summer Institute.
Jared has collaborated with his sister Jessie on several musicals. Their first full-length collaboration, Rachel, was the recipient of the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Prize for Best Original Play. It was accepted into the New York Musical Theater Festival's Developmental Reading Program, and won four "Fruitie" Awards at the Fresh Fruit Festival, including Outstanding Musical. Their second collaboration, "La Maupin," won five "Fruitie" Awards including Audience Favorite.
Jared is currently the Director of Middle School Music at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he teaches chorus, band, and general music. He is a proud recipient of an O'Connell Award, awarded by the faculty of Worcester Academy to teachers "whose performance in the classroom and loyalty to the community are most exemplary." Along with the other middle school arts teachers, Jared has helped develop several large-scale integrated arts projects, including the flagship 6th grade Arts Cafe. Jared also works as a dorm parent.
